How to Avoid GDV
1. Do not feed more than 50% dry food to a large dog.
2. The other 50% should be canned or raw food.
3. Feed more than once a day, dividing the daily ration into two or more
feedings.
4. Don’t leave food out all day.
5. Feed according to body condition and activity level, not according to the
instructions on the bag. You should be able to feel your dog’s ribs easily but
not see them from across the room (unless you have a greyhound), and you
should be able to feel the top of your dog’s spine easily.
6. Have quiet time for 20-30 minutes before and after eating.
